Easy Homemade Country Pancakes Recipe

Dear Reader,

There’s something undeniably comforting about a stack of warm, golden pancakes, and when it comes to classic breakfast treats, these country pancakes reign supreme. These fluffy, hearty beauties are made with simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen—flour, milk, eggs, and a touch of sugar—but their satisfying texture and rustic charm elevate them into something special. Whether you serve them with syrup, butter, fresh berries, or a dollop of whipped cream, country pancakes are a versatile and delicious way to start your day. In this recipe, I’ll show you how to make these perfect pancakes that capture the essence of home-cooked goodness with every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or more to taste
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Splash of vanilla extract

Prep Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins Yields: 8 pancakes

Directions

Step 1:

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together into a large bowl. Once mixed, make a well in the center and add milk, melted butter and egg. Mix ingredients until smooth.

Step 2:

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Scoop the batter onto the pan. For the perfect size pancake, use approximately 1/4 cup for each. Cook until bubbles form and the edges are dry, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook until browned on the other side. Repeat with remaining batter.

Step 3:

The final step is simple: plate your pancakes, and enjoy! Zane and I each have our own pancake preferences—I’m all about the classic combo, with a pat of butter and a drizzle of rich, bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup. Zane, on the other hand, loves to add chocolate chips into the mix. If you’re a chocolate chip fan too, here’s a little tip: keep your chocolate chips in the freezer. They cook into the pancakes much more evenly when they’re chilled, giving you those perfect little pockets of melty goodness. However you like them, these pancakes are sure to be a hit—because when it comes to breakfast, there’s no such thing as too many toppings! Let me know down in the comments how you like your pancakes!

Making pancakes from scratch is surprisingly easy, and the result is always so much more satisfying than anything from a box. With just a few simple ingredients, you can whip up a batch of homemade pancakes that are fluffy, fresh, and far tastier than store-bought versions. Plus, if you have leftover batter, no worries! You can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days—perfect for a quick breakfast the next morning. So, next time you’re craving a cozy, homemade breakfast, skip the mix and make pancakes from scratch. After all, a little extra love in the kitchen goes a long way. Happy flipping! 🥞💛
